Walt Disney Co (NYSE:DIS) has contributed $1.5 million for the “Meet Me At The Park” Programme organized by National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). This program helps to provide recreation to the kids as well as their parents in the US.
The contents of the Meet Me at The Park Programme are a healthy living initiative, Earth Month Campaign and on play space grants.
It is the 4th consecutive year that both Walt Disney and NRPA are helping the families and their children celebrate the Earth Month with a generous funding. The program is targeted in sixteen cities of the US.
Walt Disney and NRPA are also collaborating with the recreation agencies spanning 50 states in the US for a healthy living program. The main aim of this program is to increase the time spent by the families and children at the parks with enhanced access to the play space.
Both NRPA and Walt Disney is providing an opportunity for the public in the month of April 2018 to cast their vote for one of the three projects in the select 15 states and get a grant of $20,000. It also provides a chance to the voters to nominate any town or city in the US and get a grant of $20,000 for spending on a local park in the chosen community.
One Wild Card City and the following areas will participate in the Meet Me at The Park Programme:

- Houston, Texas
- Austin, Texas
- Chicago, Illinois
- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- San Francisco, California
- Hartford, Connecticut
- Durham, North Carolina, etc.
Meet Me At The Park Programme was introduced in 2014 with an aim to provide the parks with innovative facilities, provide more access to the play space so that children and families spend more time at the parks. The upgradation of the parks include refurbishing the playgrounds, improving the trails, environmental education programme, and soccer fields etc. Meet Me at the Park Earth Month campaign in 2017 has helped over 300,000 people.
