Waters Corporation (NYSE:WAT) take on REIMS is its enabling technology, ‘Intelligent Knife’ or iKnife which is in the conceptual stages of development and are ideal for use in surgery on a real-time basis. The company has commented that it is exploring the viability of the application in line with other applicable regulatory needs. However, thus far, there have been no regulatory approvals sought for the device.
Ionization Technology
The company reiterates its faith in the REIMS technology, as the platform is based on ionization technique. The company claims that it can be used as a source for direct analysis of various samples through the method of mass spectrometry.
