Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) has unveiled a Police Responder Pickup Truck known as the F-150 Police Responder that is capable of high-speed road pursuits. Enhanced with powerful off-road capabilities, the new model differentiates itself among the police-rated mission vehicles. The newly invented model will be made available in 2018 during the spring time.
Ford has remained a leading company in developing outstanding police vehicles in the United States and the recent announcement could enhance their market share from the 60% they attained in 2016. The newest addition on the police vehicle lineup is the highest ‘pursuit rated’ pickup truck ever to appear in the market.
Though the new version could be the first-ever option for the law enforcement agencies, there is no official criteria for rating these models as well as the third party that could recommend the best pursuit trail rated jeeps in the country. The ‘pursuit rated’ is an internal rating system created by Ford to portray the image of police vehicles they sell to the police agencies.
According to Stephen Tyler, a marketing manager at Ford, some of their police vehicles they developed in the past were ignored by the police agencies since they were not highly rated as their specifications didn’t meet the police pursuit recommended standards. Ford presently holds about 63% of its market share on the police-pursuit-rated vehicle sales and they are optimistic to increase their share with the new police pickup model.
Ford’s most popular police vehicle at present is the Interceptor which has attained over 50% of the current police vehicle volume sales. Ford also has another model Special Service Vehicles (SSV) which looks similar to what the civilians can purchase. These ranges from F-150s, the Tauruses, and the Expedition versions that are basically utilized for light pursuits such as detectives and police contact officers.
One distinctive feature that separates the new F-150 Police Responder from the current SSV models is the functional changes that include upgraded brake calipers and pads which are highly resistant on the hard and rough surface.
