Dallas, Texas 06/02/2015 (Financialstrend) – Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) has always tried to keep up and even stay ahead of its competitors when it comes to deliver a rewarding shopping experience online. The company has tested many experimental features over the past few years and it appears that it is now ready to test Amazon Stream, an image rich website feature where users can experience a different shopping interface.
Amazon Stream is consists of images of products that are tagged with price and an option to save them to user’s wish list. It appears just like tiles of images placed on the webpage where each tile represents one product. There are endless products listed on the Amazon Stream. However, the products featured are all sponsored. This means that this is a paid feature for sellers, thus it is just another form of advertising.
This new feature called Amazon Stream gives an appealing view of products. The tagline “Beautiful things, updated daily’. The presentation is remarkably different than the parent shopping portal. However, this new feature still lacks many things to make it a permanent feature. For example, the products are categorized in only two categories. These two categories are: “Men” and “Women”. From the products featured on the portal, it appears that the main focus is on fashion. The tiles do not include important product information, rating and user reviews. The products are displayed haphazardly and products are not recommended based on user’s shopping history. There is an option to save the product in wish list. This wish list is maintained exclusively for Amazon Stream.
Many users have commented that this new feature is an attempt of Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) to challenge pinterest. The picture tiles are remarkably similar to those featured on pinterest. The company has not made any public announcement regarding this new feature. It is clear that this feature is still in beta phase. Though the new interface may not be much appealing for web users, mobile users will find it enjoyable. In addition, those who enjoy shopping but do not know what to buy will find this feature interesting.
