Adoption of BIO-key International Inc.’s (NASDAQ:BKYI) identity and access management solution (IAM) continues to grow within the Community College System of California. The latest college to choose the IAM solution is North Orange County Community College District, which comes after Pennsylvania’s Arcadia University became the first institution to acquire the PortalGuard solution.
Arcadia University becomes the first to implement IAM capabilities
Arcadia University, which has around 4,000 students, was the first to deploy the PortalGuard IAM solution following the recent acquisition of PortalGuard creator PistolStar. The solution helps higher education institutions enhance their security and offer effortless access experience to end-users. Arcadia sought to deploy the single sign-on (SSO), multifactor authentication (MFA), and self-service password reset solution across its software applications; the applications include ExamSoft, Everfi, Canvas, LinkedIn Learning, WCOnline, KnowBe4 Security training and many more. With AIM solution, the institution can enhance authentication and still provide effortless end-user experience.
Mark Cochran, the president of PistolStar, indicated that managing the always migrating population becomes a challenge for IT departments of institutions. Therefore PortalGuard will offer institutions enhanced identity and access management suite of solutions that will enhance IT efficiencies and also drive security and compliance.
PortalGuard IAM solution saves costs related with a password reset
The service has enhanced experiences at NOCCCD, and before its implementation, users were initially required to keep several usernames and passwords to get access to different applications as the college. With the implementations, users received a single-sign-on all applications at the institution that includes Docusign, Banner 9, Canvas, Clockwork, Luminis 5, and Thycotic Secret Server. As a result, NOCCCD has managed to minimize IT help desk costs associated with the resetting of passwords with the robust password reset service of PortalGuard.
Cochran indicated that they had experienced a trend among universities and schools adopting the PortalGuard IAM solutions. He added that Portal Guard will corral all the challenges of managing enterprise access applications into a single IAM platform enabling IT teams to streamline access and thus address security issues.
