Cypress Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ:CY) recently announced successfully embedding compute capabilities into the company’s memory platform for next-generation. The company wants to find a solution for the ever-growing demand for fail-safe storage applications with trusted intelligence. Such applications include smart factories and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Cypress Semiconductor Corporation uses equipment where failure is never an option
The platform of Cypress Semiconductor Corporation hosts standardized intellectual property (IP), easily reconfigured very fast as a solution to emerging applications. Factory equipment that handles expensive materials or self-driving cars is some of the critical applications used in the mission whose failure is never an option. It is highly important for such applications to work every time. For that purpose, the company requires memory using a smarter system that is dependable, long-lasting and designed purposely to comply with all the requirements of functional safety.
The dedicated design of Semper devices of the company meets the ISO 26262 functional safety standard. The devices use the Cortex-Mo processor for enabling safe boot, functional safety diagnostics, and processing of complex embedded algorithms. The Cypress’ EnduraFlex architecture from the Semper family uses Arm core for optimizing the memory array independently.
The device uses this memory array for long data retention or frequent data writing. The Semper family also offers support to the instant-on applications demand to have 400 Mbps of read bandwidth.
Cypress earns IATF 16949 certification
Cypress Semiconductor Corporation’s manufacturing and support operations recently earned 16494:2016 and ISO9001:2015 certification for its automotive quality. International Automotive Task Force and international standards communication formed the IATF 16494 to identify the highest quality management systems standard in the automotive sector.
The certifications ensure that the performance of components is reliable which is of great importance when it comes to conducting fail-safe functions of automotive systems. According to the Executive Vice President of Quality and Engineering, Sabbas Daniel, “Cypress partners with our automotive customers to help them create differentiated systems for vehicles, but always with a focus on providing the quality and reliability these systems require for fail-safe operation.”
