Dallas, Texas 04/01/2014 (FINANCIALSTRENDS) – Endeavour Silver Corp (NYSE:EXK) has been one of the leading silver mining companies, which have been see itself as a senior producer in the near future. However, an unfortunate incident has been reported from tis Porvenir Cuatro mine. This is one of the sites of the large-scale Guanacevi mines located in Mexico.
The mishap at Endeavour Silver Corp (NYSE:EXK) mine was apparently due to a rock fall underground. The incident which occurred on March 28, 2014 has resulted in the immediate closure of the mine and has also completed preliminary investigations.
Endeavour Silver Corp (NYSE:EXK) is now awaiting external investigations by Mexican authorities.
Endeavour Silver Corp (NYSE:EXK) company authorities have stated that the company is open to further enquiries and will accede to further safety requirements wherever required.
Endeavour Silver Corp (NYSE:EXK) said the company will commence operations at this site, post approval by Mexican authorities. Regretting the occurrence of the mishap, CEO Bradford Cooke has been quick to apologize thus, “We are truly sorry for the accident and we offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.”
He further reiterated that the safety of every employee at the mines was priority and the executives and management would not spare a thought to implement further measures which ensured safety and high standards of work conditions for the employees. The prevention of further accidents remained to be their main focus.
Meanwhile, the company has reported that it has had very good results for this year as well as previous fiscal. It has aimed at improving the output for the year, as it aims to qualify for the senior producer post. The company has reported an increase in the production levels for nearly the entire decade and hopes to achieve over 10 million ounces production this year. For this year the total ounces of silver that EXK has produced is 6.8 million.
