
EOG Resources Inc (NYSE:EOG) reported that the have promoted Lloyd W. “Billy” Helms, Jr. to the role of Chief Operating Officer while Ezra Y. Yacob has been made EVP, Exploration and Production. Yacob will look after company’s San Antonio, Artesia and Midland operating areas.

Gary L. Thomas, the most recently Chief Operating Officer and President, will continue serving as EOG Resources President to permit for the gradual shift of his responsibilities before his retirement. He is projected to retire by year-close 2018. Thomas has been with company for 39 years, having engaged with a predecessor firm in 1978 as a production and drilling engineer. Since 1998, he has been responsible for managing EOG Resources’ drilling, production, engineering and completions activities.
William R. “Bill” Thomas, the CEO and Chairman of EOG, expressed that the two promotions reported today showcase company’s extensive bench of high-caliber leadership. Both Ezra and Billy are proven pioneers at company. Each has showcased exceptional technical leadership and management through years of robust performance in different roles across the firm. Ezra and Billy both exemplify company’s track record of success and remarkable culture.
Billy Helms, the most recently EVP, Exploration and Production, has service of 36 years with EOG. Most recently, he has been accountable for company’s businesses in Midland, Artesia and San Antonio, along with the firm’s Engineering and Business Development and Acquisition activities. Before joining the executive management team in 2012, he managed development and exploration activities in Canada and served roles of increasing responsibility in Houston and the Midland offices. Helms, Jr. got engaged with an EOG predecessor firm in 1981.
Most recently General Manager and Vice President of EOG’s Midland office, Yacob has experience of 12 years with company and has managed the firm’s Permian Basin development and exploration activities since May 2014.
