Dallas, Texas 08/29/2013 (Financialstrend) – Ford Motor (NYSE:F) has refused to take bookings for few of its EcoSport variants due to continuously increasing demands for this trendy and compact sports car in India. A spokesman on behalf of Ford Motor India quoted that they are facing a long wait period on some of the company’s variant of EcoSport and hence they have decided to put a full stop on new bookings for some time on. He refused to give any further details about the matter when asked. The company too did not comment about the total number of bookings of these variants.
As per the dealers, the halt on booking for variants varies from dealer to dealer. Some of the dealers have refused to accept bookings for entry level variants in the diesel segment while others have stopped for top most models or the middle level ones of the EcoSport under diesel segment only. On the other hand, a few dealers are not taking any new orders for the optional variant of EcoSport available with one liter Ecoboost Engine in the petrol variant segment.
Ford Motor (NYSE:F) in India had launched EcoSport on 26th June this year and as per the company they received nearly 30,000 bookings within the short period of 17 days of its launch in India. As per the figures given by SIAM, Ford India managed to sell off around 8717 units of EcoSport till the month of July. The price for petrol variant of EcoSport is available between the price ranges of 5.59 lakhs to 8.44 lakhs. However, the 1.5 liter diesel variant of the car has been priced between 6.69 lakhs to 8.99 lakhs. The EcoSport model packed with Ecoboost engine technique comes at a price between 7.89 lakhs to 8.28 lakhs.
