Dallas, Texas 07/13/2015 (Financialstrend) – General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) India, stated on Monday that it would recall as many as 155,000 of two of its hatchbacks to fix ‘wiring problems’ faced when using remote ‘keyless entry’ feature.

The two hatchbacks which are to be recalled are, Chevrolet Spark and Beat, as well as Enjoy models. These are multipurpose vehicles and will include those vehicles which were manufactured between 2007 and 2014. The remote keyless access feature was introduced in these gadgets and allows owners to open their cars without using the regular keys to open their cars.

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) clarified that feature was well within the regulatory standards required for such features. The Indian executives of the one of the largest auto manufacturers in the US, conclude that despite the regulatory compliance they would be go forward with fixing the wiring. This is because of the few isolated cases which have erupted in the case of cars such as the Enjoy, Beat as well as Spark. These issues relate to ‘faulty’ accessories.

Local executives also claim that General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) has located the potential issues related to the faulty wiring, such as locking the customers out or malfunction as well. Hence, on a precautionary note, the company wished to introduce such changes which would help in overcoming the remote keyless entry issues.

For GM India, such recalls are not for the first time.

Back in 2013, it had for the very first time in India, recalled as many as 114,000 Tavera sports utility vehicles to overcome issues with emission standards as well as certain other regulatory requirements.

Now in 2015, the recall of over 155,000 vehicles is another new high for any auto maker in India. General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) has requested owners of Spark, Enjoy and Beat made in between 2007 and 2014 to contact their Chevrolet Dealer to sort through the remote keyless access feature.
