Groupon Inc (NASDAQ:GRPN) has selected Jennifer Carr-Smith as SVP, GM of North America Local. She recently was associated with Peapod as President and sports an extensive track record of scaling, transforming and building businesses that span numerous sectors.
Aaron Cooper, the President of North America, expressed that it is a thrilling time for company, especially in Local. He is excited to bring Carr-Smith on board. She is a proven leader with an extensive background in scaling and growing operations, and she’ll bring a unique and valuable perspective and a wide e-commerce background that will assist them continue to grow Groupon into a daily habit.
In her new profile, Carr-Smith will head Groupon’s Local business, including major areas like Beauty & Wellness, Health, Food & Drink, Sales Operations and Things To Do. Carr-Smith expressed that the momentum and opportunity at Groupon are incredible. They’ve built a remarkable local marketplace and more importantly an extremely talented team that’s committed to getting real value to small businesses, the communities and customers around them. Prior to Peapod, Carr-Smith looked after the global web business at J. Crew, responsible for leading profitability and growth in mobile and online channels and guiding innovation in Omni-channel and digital commerce. She served as a member of the preliminary management team at Gilt Groupe, responsible for implementing and designing operating systems as the firm advanced from a start-up to a mid-sized firm. Carr-Smith started with her new role effective September 25.
