Dallas, Texas 11/19/2013 (Financialstrend) – Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) has chosen CoolIT Systems to liquid-cool its high performance compute-cluster that will eventually showcase the company’s latest technology at the SuperCompute’13 that is to be held in Denver this week. The CoolIT Direct Contact Liquid-Cooling system has allowed Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) to deploy its High Performance Compute cluster and it will operate live at the company’s Booth #2701.
Its demonstration cluster very effectively proves that readily-available hardware is able to compete in the space that used to be reserved only for the most-specialized supercomputer-hardware manufacturers. This impressive cluster has 9936 cores that reach 131.2 Teraflops. This ranks the system 400th on its Top500 list of Supercomputers across the globe. What is even more impressive is the fact that this system consumed only a total of 74.25KW’s of power. Every SuperMicro® FatTwi-node has dual Intel® Xeon® Processors & 3 Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors that result in more than a KW of heat per-node for the CoolIT system to manage.
