JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ:JBLU) launches social media blitzkrieg

Dallas, Texas 09/30/2013 (Financialstrend) – JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ:JBLU) announced on September 27, that it has tied up with New York Comedy Festival (NYCF) and will be the official airline partner for the nationally acclaimed festival which is scheduled to take place November 6 to 10, 2013 in New York.

In a bid to build and augment its corporate profile as a New York based airline connecting the metropolis with rest of the country the airline has also landed the title sponsor role  for the festivals popular “New York’s Funniest” competition.  JetBlue has launched a major social media advertisement blitz in association with NYCF to promote this event and build a strong following for itself on the social media circuit. The winner of the competition that JetBlue is sponsoring will get a chance to perform at “Carolines on Broadway.”

As part of its social media campaign to engage and related to its customer base the airline has launched an online completion with NYCF to identify the top three funniest performers. The top three would be chosen by an online poll conducted on JetBlue’s Facebook page. The winner of this online contest will be sponsored air tickets and hotel stay in New York by JetBlue. In addition the winner gets to perform on stage at Carolines on Broadway during the “NY Funniest competition” final round, sharing the stage with several renowned comics.

JetBlue connects over 79 cities in United States and Caribbean through its close to 700 daily flights.  In 2012, the airline ferried close to 29 million passengers on its 188 strong fleet of aircraft. It has tried to create a niche among the young travellers as a fun loving and value for money airline offering live TV and radio on its flights. The company projects itself as a “New York’s Hometown Airline” and is hoping that this event sponsorship will further build its loyal customer base among the city flyers.
