Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is preparing to launch its campaign for the latest operating system, Windows 10. The campaigns will commence next week.
As part of the campaigns, the company is making a $10 million donation as well as giving its new operating system free of charge to some of its registered users. These and a few other promotional stunts are designed to strengthen the new operating system as a sales product. In the past, the company’s aim has been to sell its operating systems to as many users as it can. This time there is even more need or Microsoft to employ that strategy.
The new OS will be released at a time when social networks such as Facebook are the trend. Therefore, Windows 10 licenses are expected to make more sales than any other operating system that the company has sold in the past. This is because the OS has been tweaked to leverage the current online technology. One of the other selling points that Microsoft has for the operating system is unifying the OS for both PCs and mobile devices. With that respect, Windows 10 will be released for both platforms and the company has customized it as much as possible.
Windows enthusiasts have a few things to look forward to with the latest OS. Some exciting additions have been made such as bringing Cortana on board. The later was earlier available for Windows Mobile devices only. It is Microsoft’s version of Siri from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). The company is also throwing in a new integrated browser called Edge. Of Course, there are some other additions but a single glance at a device running the OS and you can instantly tell the difference.
The aim was to make a better, more sophisticated, responsive and more user-friendly operating system. Well, the big release is fast approaching, and soon users will get their first experience. It hasn’t been an easy road or the company so far. Recently Microsoft announced that it was writing off the Nokia acquisition. Obviously something went terribly wrong with that initiative. The company now plans to concentrate more on its software aspects.
