QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) Gets Samsung’s Support For Snapdragon 820 Chipset

Dallas, Texas 07/01/2015 (Financialstrend) – QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM), a leading mobile chipmaker has entered in to partnership with Original equipment manufacturer (OEM) Samsung for manufacturing Snapdragon 820 Chipset. In order to avoid the thermal management issues faced by the Snapdragon 810 processor and to control its power consumption, The Company has tied-up with Samsung to derive benefit from its 14nm production technology.

Whereas Samsung uses the 14nm FinFET(Fin-Shaped Field Effect Translator) manufacturing technique for its efficient chipset Exynos 7420 which will be under the hood of Samsung Galaxy S6.

According to the news reports dated back January 2015, Qualcomm’s flagship chip Snapdragon 810 faced overheating problems and in turn which led Samsung to pull out its chipset’s use. Later, Samsung re-introduced its 14nm FINFET in Samsung Galaxy S6.

As per the Sources, with Samsung 14nm chipset the Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) Snapdragon  820 will not have any issues related to temperature or related to under clocking fixes which in turn prevents Snapdragon  810- powered smartphones realize their  full potential.

The company’s Snapdragon 820 features the company’s own 64-Kyro architecture which clocks at 3.0 GHz and which is still not on overclocked mode.

Top Mobile manufacturing companies like Xiaomi, HTC, and Sony including other companies which uses Qualcomm’s chipsets in their devices will get the first opportunity to receive the initial batch of the new processors. All the companies can incorporate the chip in to their new upcoming smart phones in the future.

The Companies which use Qualcomm’s new chip in their new generation of handsets and do not encounter any bumps in their sale of handsets then the demand from the consumers for Snapdragon 820 powered devices may boost for the year 2016.

According to certain news reports, Xiaomi’s next smartphone Xiaomi Mi 5 will be featuring the QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) Snapdragon 820, complete with a custom ARMv8 CPU along with 4GB RAM. The new Phone will be available in 16 GB and 64 GB models.
