Sprint Corp (NYSE:S), a telecommunications firm based in Kansas City, has filed a series of lawsuits in a Delaware District Court against the cable companies for violating the patents related to its VoIP.
The company has filed a number of law suits on Wednesday against cable companies including Fortworth, Texas based TPG Global; Quincy, Massachusetts based Atlantic Broadband; and WideOpenWest Inc. (NYSE:WOW), which is based in Denver. Sprint has included all of the three companies of TPG Global in the lawsuit over the VoIP related patents issue.
The company is demanding huge sums for the patent violation and seeks a permanent injunction case by case.
Sprint settled two lawsuits of similar nature in the quarter ending December 2017. The company has received $350 million as damages from the lawsuits related to patent infringement in that quarter as per the information submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission. The amount received by Sprint is excluding the legal fee. The company has also received considerable amounts from patents infringement in the past decade.
WideOpenWest Inc Delays Announcement of Results
WideOpenWest Inc has delayed the release of 2017 earnings and the Q4 results and seeks additional time for the review and analysis of intangible assets. The company was scheduled to announce the results on March 8, 2018. The company will announce the date for releasing the results.
