Dallas, Texas 04/17/2014 (FINANCIALSTRENDS) – Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) seems to have managed to ferret out a still untapped market in the saturated mobile handset market space in U.S through its “child centric” mobile hand set offering. The easy to use phone has been specifically designed, keeping in mind the usage patterns and the key feature functionality which would allow children to use the mobile in a safe and controlled manner.
On April 11, Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) introduced to the U.S market a child centric handset Sprint WeGo™ which is designed to meet the needs of children who are in the 5 years to 12 years age group. The mobile phone is designed to enable parents of children using these devices to offer their wards a communication tool which is cost effective and easy to use and also comes equipped with parental control features which would help the parents monitor their child’s cell phone usage. The telecommunication services provider has indicated that the new device will help parents “teach responsibility and age-appropriate mobile phone use” to children.
The device allows parents to track the phone on line and can monitor and manage the contact settings. It also comes equipped with a alarm bell which sets off an alarm when the kid uses it to alert others.
Explaining the reasoning behind the product launch, Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) vice president of Product, David Owens has been quoted to have said that, “Sprint offers parents a wide variety of options to help keep their kids safe – from Sprint Mobile Controls and Sprint Family Locator to Content Filtering to the new Sprint WeGo. Sprint WeGo is the perfect starter phone to give parents peace of mind while teaching kids responsibility – how to keep track of a device, charge it and care for it – at a low price. This device has all of the basics without anything younger children don’t need just yet.”
