Dallas, Texas 02/19/2014 (FINANCIALSTRENDS) – The $23.62 billion market capped TE Connectivity Ltd (NYSE:TEL) and France based Alcatel Lucent have jointly announced the introduction of a new cutting edge technology solution which is designed to help mobile service operators to significantly cut down the power required to run network equipment and the time taken to add new customers at locations which attract huge but erratic numbers of user base like in airports, stadiums and hotel lounges.

The two tech firms which major on providing new age network solutions have put their heads to together to come up with a proprietary platform which offers a common digital link “between the Alcatel-Lucent mobile Ultra-Broadband access portfolio and the TE FlexWave, digital Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS)”. While the new solution platform is available for its top customers currently, it would be more widely available for deployment starting in April of 2014.

The newly developed “DAS networks” helps provide network operators more area coverage and helps them achieve scalability in adding new user base at high traffic density locations without having to add more hardware. The other USP of the jointly developed DAS platform is the fact that it is vendor agnostic and hence can seamlessly interoperate between networks set by various service providers running their networks on a multitude of technologies across multiple frequencies. The new technology is expected to help mobile operators cut down their hardware cost by close to 50 percent and cost of materials by equally impressive 40 percent in the first year of operations itself. Collateral savings include less power usage, savings on space rentals for setting up the equipment and the reduced cost of cooling set up to operate the hardware.

TE Connectivity Ltd (NYSE:TEL) General Manager and Vice President Peter Wraight has been quoted to have said that, “This innovation makes DAS even more efficient for our customers and takes advantage of TE’s proven and unique digital transport for wireless services. Our digital DAS solutions already offer unmatched density, capacity management, scale, and performance creating a more efficient network for our customers.”
