Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) announced recently that it has signed a partnership agreement with Citizen Band Radio Spectrum (CBRS) to enhance the CBRS advancements. Verizon will utilize the available LTE Advanced technology from the shared spectrum to increase the capacity of its network hence allowing its clients to benefit from the high speed communication network. Furthermore, the collaboration will help in developing a powerful Augmented Reality (AR experiences.
The system is designed particularly to create the AR experiences for smart phone devices as part of the large strategy to improve the company’s revenues. AR systems enable the application publishers to easily deploy a wide range of the AR experiences for their customers. Several business companies including schools and the government agencies are increasingly using the AR experiences to enable their clients to experience the benefits of using AR.
The pilot program, which began in February, is expected to continue for several weeks to determine its deployment feasibility. Until now, CBRS band has been relying on the federal government for supply of radar systems after the Federal Communications Commission permitted the shared usage of the spectrum with the wireless cells back in 2016.
Following Verizon’s opting out of the federal airwave auction program in 2017, the firm is currently searching for better ways to provide its clients more bandwidth. The company is focused on the launch of the wireless sector in the CBRS’s 3.5 GHz band.
CBRS band will allow the customers to enjoy the huge swaths of the spectrum that is expected to make a significant impact on managing wireless data in the near future. Verizon is currently is carrying out trials to ensure that the plan works out as stipulated. The model is focued on the wireless market where the spectrum is administered in the real time to reduce the possibility of users interfering with other users’ broadcasts.
