(NASDAQ:YHOO) announced yesterday that it has decided to bring in Ms Bobbi Brown who is a globally recognized cosmetics expert, to lead and edit its coverage of evens and content creation related to beauty and well being industry. She will hold the position of “editor in chief” of its beauty coverage division which has been branded as “Yahoo Beauty”.
Ms Brown comes in with the mandate to re-imagine the whole idea of “Yahoo Beauty” portal and provide it with new impetus and direction. The goal is to transform the portal into one of the online worlds must stop beauty and cosmetics resource centre. It is important to note here though that, she will continue in her current role, to lead the operations of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics as its chief operating officer. The firm sells cosmetics and skin care solutions which are licensed from Estee Lauder Cos.
In a post on a Yahoo blog, Ms Brown has been quoted to have said that, “In my career as a makeup artist, I’ve also had the amazing opportunity to write, create and teach. In this new role, I get to combine my interest in education and empowerment by curating amazing visual content that will teach women how to be their best selves.”
Ms Browns appointment into the key editorial role, comes quickly on the heels of another other top professionals from the journalistic background making it to editorial desk of Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) various online content platforms. These new hires include Katie Couric being brought on to held and lead the tech firm’s video content creation efforts, while noted columnist David Pogue had been brought on board to head the firm’s tech news coverage.
Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) Chief Executive Officer Marissa Mayer has been ringing in these top level changes at the internet company, in her continued efforts to transform the company into a coherent competitor to the likes of Google, Amazon and others.
